Petrano

Found the item? Petrano becomes your Canadian supplier of record.

Some items a lab needs are sold only by an overseas manufacturer, a small specialist or a marketplace seller that cannot register in your supplier system or accept a purchase order. Send us the listing or the quote you found. Petrano buys the item, brings it into Canada and sells it to your institution as a registered Canadian supplier.

When this helps

How it works

  1. 01

    Send the listings

Send the links, part numbers or the seller’s quotation, with quantities, the delivery building and the date you need the items.

  2. 02

    We confirm and quote

We confirm availability and condition with each seller and check the shipping and import requirements. You receive one formal quotation on Petrano letterhead covering every item. Where we import, freight, duties, brokerage and customs clearance are included.

  3. 03

    We register as your supplier

Send your supplier profile, direct deposit and tax forms. We return them completed and signed, normally the same business day.

  4. 04

    You issue the purchase order

Your purchasing office issues one purchase order to Petrano. Payment terms are stated in the quotation.

  5. 05

    We buy, import and deliver

We pay the sellers, arrange shipping, act as importer of record and deliver to your site.

  6. 06

    You receive one invoice

One itemized invoice with GST/HST, proof of delivery and the serial numbers where an item has one, ready for your file or your funding audit.

Conditions, stated plainly

  • Marketplace and used items are sold as is, in the condition the seller describes. A manufacturer warranty applies only where it transfers with the item.
  • Items bought for you on this basis are final sale once we have committed to the seller. The returns policy for our listed items does not apply to them.
  • Listings can change or sell before we buy. We confirm each item with the seller again when your purchase order arrives.
  • Payment terms depend on the item and your institution’s credit. For marketplace and used items we may ask for payment before we commit to the seller.
  • Some items need an export permit or fall under sanctions or controlled goods rules. We check before we quote and may decline an item.
  • If an item arrives damaged in transit or is not the item listed, we take up the claim with the seller and the carrier for you.

What to send us

  • Links to the listings, or the seller’s quotation
  • Quantity of each item
  • Delivery building and city
  • The date you need the items
  • Budgetary or formal quotation
  • Your supplier registration forms, if you already have them

If the item is new and the manufacturer sells through distributors, we can often quote it from the manufacturer directly. See the equipment catalogue for the lines we supply.
